City of contrasts

Breda is a city of contrasts; water and greenery, (Royal) history and trendy hotspots. A city that bursts with energy and which will surprise the whole family. Picnic in the Valkenbergpark, stroll through the Mastbos woods, cruise along the canals, chill out on Haveneilend (Harbour Island) or at Belcrum Beach. It’s located in the western part of North Brabant region, with the Biesbosch National Park within driving distance, and even further west by Bergen op Zoom, nature reserves such as the Brabantse Wal and the Kalmthoutse Heide National Park.

Closer to Vincent van GoghHuis

Zundert is where Vincent van Gogh first saw the light of day on 30 March 1853. The Vincent van GoghHuis now stands on the site where he was born: a living art centre about the most famous Brabant artist ever. In the permanent exhibition ‘Vincent van Gogh – the Roots of a Master’, Vincent will take you by the hand in a re-enactment of his youth, and among the things you will learn will be the struggle he had with his faith.

The Biesbosch National Park is a paradise for nature lovers. You can discover it yourself from the Biesbosch MuseumEiland (Museum Island). Spot a bald eagle or a beaver while sailing, walking or cycling. The museum contains a scale model of the area with polders, dikes and waterways, and you get to learn all about Europe’s largest fresh water area. A walk around the island with its water playground is fun for the kids.

One of the five unique locations of Klimbos Nederland treetop adventure parks can be found in the historic town of Bergen op Zoom: Klimbos Brabantse Wal. You will experience an amazing adventure in the middle of the countryside with challenging bridges and nets, sturdy lianas and the craziest ziplines. The Klimbos has no fewer than 9 different routes and about 100 different transitions that criss-cross through the beautiful wood.
