Cycle through the Brabant countryside that inspired Van Gogh, and visit the Van Gogh locations in North Brabant. You’ll never get closer to Vincent!
The countryside and the way of life in North Brabant are the inspiration of the paintings by the world-famous artist Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890). Vincent was born in North Brabant, he grew up there, found inspiration and made his first sketches on paper. It was there that he developed to become an artist and painted his first masterpiece: The Potato Eaters. The Van Gogh Cycle Route is 435 kilometres in length, divided into ten cycle routes, The round trips are linked to each other by the Van Gogh link routes. You can enjoy the varied Brabant countryside and visit places that moulded Van Gogh and which he painted, such as the Opwetten Watermill in Nuenen and the Kollen Watermill in Eindhoven.
Liberation Cycle Route
The Liberation Route Brabant tells the story of the liberation, but also depicts how the Second World War affected ordinary people in North Brabant.
Eight cycle routes, spread throughout North Brabant will take you past Brabant Remembers stories, the Liberation Route Europe audio columns, monuments and museums, all of which combine to make the impact of the war tangible. Distances vary from 30 to 47 kilometres. You can cycle through the Battle of the Scheldt countryside in Bergen op Zoom, where you will find British and Canadian fields of remembrance.
