Het Dommelpad

Straight through the countryside and past watermills

The source of the River Dommel (a total of 125 km long) is in Belgium, close to the city of Peer. There, the Dommel starts as a small stream before gradually turning into a brook. By the time it reaches its end point in North Brabant near ‘s-Hertogenbosch, the Dommel is a substantial river. Walk through impressive countryside, past lovely watermills and how discover the Dommel has left its mark on Brabant’s countryside.

You can walk the Dommelpad in six different stages, going upstream as well as downstream. You follow the story of the watermills from Peer to ‘s-Hertogenbosch and the story of the heritage and countryside from ‘s-Hertogenbosch to Peer.

The nine wonders of Oudenbosch

In Oudenbosch, a place in the west of North Brabant, you may wonder whether you are in the Netherlands or in Rome! Here, you will find one of the country’s most beautiful churches, the Oudenbosch Basilica. The church, built between 1865 and 1880, is a scaled copy of Saint Peter’s Basilica in Rome. ‘The nine wonders of Oudenbosch’ city walk takes you past this impressive basilica, as well as the exceptional Arboretum botanic gardens and the hidden square of Saint Louis.
