This year our beautiful province takes on the role of European Region of Gastronomy 2018, something we are very proud of! North Brabant enjoys a rich gastronomical tradition and everyone is aware of the typical Brabant hospitality.

5 May - 27 May | Wouw

Restaurant op 't Land

A pop-up restaurant will be created among the asparagus fields, hidden away between Wouw and Heerle on the edge of the West Brabant countryside. Guests can enjoy the most fantastic asparagus dishes, fresh from the field!

31 May - 3 June | Bergen op Zoom

Proefmei (Taste May)

A culinary and cultural festival experiencing nature in the Brabantse Wal nature reserve, the historic centre of Bergen op Zoom and the wonderful ambiance of one of Europe’s finest city palaces; the Markiezenhof. Sample regional products and the renowned anchovies, asparagus and strawberries in the restaurants and on the culinary squares of the Brabantse Wal, Mechelen and Oudenaarde.

Did you know that..?

  • The Mariakapel in the centre of our provincial capital ’s-Hertogenbosch has been converted into a (temporary) sanctuary for North Brabant chefs. GAST is a unique pop-up restaurant where various culinary events are being organised throughout the year.

  • Our province offers various cycling experience routes including the Sample the 5 Trappists cycle route. La Trappe beers are developed and brewed in the beautiful Koningshoeve!

  • Oerlekker Maashorst brings new life to food traditions and habits. You can browse the street markets of East Brabant for an entire week and enjoy delicious samplings, or follow the pop-up routes past crafts men and women for a tasty treat!
